Salmon Recovery Video About to be Released

"Last Chance For The Pacific Salmon" is a one hour video documentary on the threat of extinction facing the ten major species of salmon in the Pacific Northwest.

This documentary will provide an understanding of the salmon's life cycle and explain the processes leading up to habitat loss. It will detail the threat of extinction, then provide solutions. Watershed restoration, community actions and legal recourses will be addressed. Finally the public will be urged to become involved in their own communities and in the political process.

"Last Chance" features interviews with scientists, environmentalists, land owners, politicians, educators, fishermen, and citizens. Dramatic location photography and computer graphics bring the subject to life.

The documentary is being produced by Michael Fasman, a professional film and video producer with 17 years experience in Hollywood and San Francisco, and Patrick Higgins, a fisheries and conservation biologist from Arcata.

The video is being distributed by Trout Unlimited to their 700 chapters nationwide. It has been funded by the Rex and Meade Foundations, and will be available in July.
