1996 Fall Conference:

--Make your plans now--

Heads up folks! The Watershed Management Council's 1996 biennial conference is coming up from October 23rd through the 25th at the Cal-Neva resort on Lake Tahoe's north shore. The conference will examine our perceptions regarding various aspects of watershed stability and how our use and misuse of the concept of dynamic equilibrium has shaped our thinking in all aspects of watershed management. This conference will get you to think. We've enlisted the best minds that a promise of a good time and low pay could influence. Some folks who have fallen victim to our persuasive banter are Bill Dietrich, Lynn Hunsinger, Mary Power, Bill Trush, Kat Anderson, Jerry Verner, Wayne Elmore, Gordy Reeves, Bob Ziemer, Tom Lisle, Connie Millar, Sally Fairfax, Bruce Cleland, Mike Orcutt, Ann Goos, Joan Florsheim, Bob Coates and Jeff Romm to name a few. As you can see from this list of people, the conference is intended to integrate our thinking across functional disciplines; to boldly go where few conferences have gone before. And in keeping with the spirit of the WMC, we're offering this peak experience at a ridiculously low price of only $130 (members), which includes one well-balanced, meal and banquet entertainment, the usual refreshments during the conference, a poster session, plus an exciting technical program on the 23rd that's available at a small extra charge ($35/ session). Of course, everyone is shamelessly encouraged to attend. This is going to be a great conference, but there is a catchp;we only have room for 300 people, so please sign up early. If you miss this one we conservatively estimate that you run a 78% risk of deep regret that may require professional help. Since none of us want to see that happen, contact Gina Ferrel at 916-752-7999 or gmferrell@ucdavis.edu and Gina will mail you a registration package.
